Keep It Up

Replacing the lift gate struts is no big hassle but I’ll just give you a bit of advise when you do purchase the new struts. Buy the exact same struts. The problem I ran into was the replacement struts I bought had a cup and lock pin mount on one side with a pressure clip on the other side.

The problem I had was when the gate was open, it held the door up fine. But after closing the gate and reopening, the pressure clip side would turn slightly and pop off. This in turn would send the gate crashing down, closing again. One strut can not hold up the entire gate. So back to the store I went and purchased the correct style with cups and lock pins on both sides of the strut. After the installation it went from saggy door to full open with no pop offs.
