I purchased my 1987 Jeep Cherokee on August 6, 2017. I had been looking for a replacement for about a year when I found mine on Facebook Marketplace. I purchased it from an awesome couple in Temecula, California. We negotiated a price of $1000. They told me the Jeep had an intermittent overheating problem when they drove it for an extended period of time.
On the first drive home, the Jeep started creeping close to the red when I was entering the city of Perris, California. I pulled off the freeway for about 30 minutes to let it cool down. It was about 95 degrees outside on the drive home so with the Cherokees limited cooling system and said overheating problems, this was expected. After I got it home, it was time to start tearing into it to for some much needed maintenance and repairs. In the next post I’ll share some photos of my torn down engine and the reassembly of it.
